Interview with Jürgen Terhorst

by Roché Boedhoe / Thursday, 09 March 2017 / Published in News

Hühnerhof Terhorst GmbH & Co. KG

in Walchum – Germany/ Lower Saxony, 26 November 2010

We visited Jürgen Terhorst, owner of the chicken farm Hühnerhof Terhorst in the Emsland district. In January 2010 Jürgen Terhorst installed three 120 x 20 m chicken houses with a capacity of 114,000 layers. They were built with Tulderhof products. We report on how he is getting on with them.

Where did you first hear about Tulderhof Ventilation BV?

Jürgen Terhorst: I first heard about you at various trade fairs and open days in the Netherlands and Germany, where we often picked up information about Tulderhof products and saw them on show.

Jürgen Venhaus of the Schulz family also recommended Tulderhof air inlets and daylight solutions to me.

Jürgen Venhaus on Tulderhof products:

Jürgen Venhaus: I have been working with Tulderhof for some years now and I am very happy with the service they provide and how thorough they are. The main products I use are inlets, black-out side windows and black-out ridge and roof windows, which are the most frequently ordered products.

Tulderhof Ventilation BV is a major player in this segment. Tulderhof products are also the first to be officially KAT certified. Tulderhof has been designing its poultry houses in compliance with these standards for many years.

So my customers can relax in the knowledge that Tulderhof supplies high-quality, KAT-compliant daylight solutions.

Can you give us an example of the benefits offered by the Tulderhof system you chose?

Jürgen Terhorst: Yes, because the Flash 3300 is a perfect fit for the side windows. These inlets are very easy to install between the sandwich panels.

Unlike traditional valves, the Flash 3300 steers the air perfectly towards the middle of my system in the house.

Tulderhof and Jürgen Venhaus make a great team and have given us excellent advice, laying the foundation for a perfect product.

Can you tell us anything about maintaining the Flash 3300?

Jürgen Terhorst: Not really, because we only started using it in January 2010. I am not anticipating any problems. The Flash 3300 is made of plastic and is easy to clean. These products are refined and are of very high quality, so I expect them to have a long and problem-free service life.

Jürgen, would you buy the Flash again?

Jürgen Terhorst: Definitely. In fact just this morning a colleague with a layer farm called me and asked me what I thought of the Flash 3300. I could only recommend Tulderhof.

By the way, we will be building three more houses and will definitely be using Tulderhof Ventilation BV products again for ventilation and blacking out. We have had excellent results with them so far. I am convinced that conventional valves would not have produced the same results.
