The Big Twin - tunnelinlet
Cooling can be given by cooling pads, or disc-coolers. With these products one can reduce the temperature with 4 to 6 degrees. Better, however, is to make a tunnel-ventilation-system. This way, depending on outside relative humidity and temperature, the cooling effect can be much higher. This is made visible in the figure shown below |
The chilling effect is of course most influenced by the air speed in the poultry-house. Air speeds higher than 2,0 have only a small additional effect. The charts also show that cooling reduces the effect of chilling, because of the simple reason that cooling
with watering systems increases the relative humidity of the air. |
It is also very important how the incoming air is entering the house. At first when chilling is used (when the temperature outside is not yet at the highest point, or when the chicks are still small) the air should not point directly at the animals. Later on, when temperatures rise more and the birds grow bigger, of course air directly onto the flock is needed. Tulderhof has made a special “Tunnel inlet-valve” for this purpose, the BIG TWIN. This valve are placed in the front wall of the house and are controlled by a ventelationcomputer. These TWINs give a perfect steering of the air, always based on our “Under pressure system” This way absolutely nothing can go wrong.
